April 2023 is all about “studies” on my Patreon site: RozInterim. I’ll demonstrate how I work with a pen sketch that’s way off base, and work it up into an opaque watercolor study, while making corrections to shapes, angles, proportions—all those things you need to constantly be thinking of as you work.
Besides this demo there will be other posts discussing the uses and benefits of making studies as part of your journaling and painting practice.
I hope you’ll subscribe and join in by clicking this link and checking it out. I’ve lost count of how many demos there are on my Patreon site—over 36 monthly demos and many more hours of additional demonstrations I just felt compelled to post to broaden the discussion. Even in months where I only post one demo I have additional creativity posts and many of these end up as demos or chats, like the color chats I did a couple years ago—everything you really need to understand color mixing in any medium and bring your paintings to a new level visual interest.
On my Patreon site there are two subscription levels. Tier 2 gets you access to all the monthly demos and at least two process or creativity posts a month. Tier 3 gets you access to everything Tier 2 has to offer, but in addition you can join the private Webinar group we have on Facebook where you can chat and post your work, and participate in our monthly live webinars (which are taped for later viewing if you can’t join live). Often Webinar group raises new questions which means there are additional creativity posts for Tier 3 as well.
When you subscribe you’re billed on a monthly schedule and you have your tier’s access for as long as you subscribe.
What are just some of the topics that I deal with on the Patreon site? Artistic choices, making artistic plans, addressing your process, setting up and completing successful artistic plans and projects, setting your goals, understanding and using your intentions to improve your art, learning to work more loosely, learning to work on proportions, how to mix color, how to work with color when mixing skin tones, how to use watercolor opaquely, and how to deal with your internal critic.
All this material is exclusive to my Patreon site for at least a year; it isn’t material I put on RozWoundUp. In fact in the 3 years I’ve offered the Patreon site, fewer than a dozen items have been shared outside of Patreon.
All of the material on my Patreon site is created with the same thoroughness, thoughtfulness, and experience I’ve brought to my teaching for over 35 years. I hope you’ll come and join the fun.
