Here’s another of my Fair Goer sketchers from a photo Earth’s World captured at a West Coast Fair. (See #earthsworld, @earthsworld on Instagram and Flicker; Earth permits artists to use the photos as sketching reference with attribution!)
I was using a very dried out pen. I have replaced it since then (May) of course, and run 3 more pens at least dry.
I’m still lazy about getting up and going to another room to get a fresh pen. I like the dried out lines.
I keep promising myself that I will get up and get new pen next time.
We’ll see. I just like to keep sketching.
Dried out (grey) pens are perfect for the softer female portrait form shadows and lines👍 . Lovely rendering here👍👍.
Yep, I don’t draw many portraits of women, but I agree dried out grey pens are definitely useful there! Thanks for the kind feedback.I do wish I would get up and get a fresh pen now and then though!
It has an almost graphite look and still has enough ink to build some value, just like a pencil.
Yes, it does. Sometimes I look at a drawing scan and can’t tell it’s ink until I look a little closer. (Original journals are still all in storage.) But the one I was using on this day wasn’t even able of building much value. I just have to get up and go to the cupboard for a new pen!
